The Last Sunset by J. A. Zollicoffer

by J. A. Zollicoffer

You enveloped me in your warmth,
and it was as if I’d never be cold again.
You weren’t just my lover, but my confidant, my friend.

When the tunnels of life got dark and I couldn’t see,
just the sound of your voice seemed to guide me.

We were one in the same,
what I thought, you’d say.
We had to accept we should be this way.

You made me feel like summers long ago,
when everything seemed possible,
and the days went by slow.

Couldn’t you see all the things you did for me?
Being with you was like finally being free.
